Christoph Schwaiger's video snapshot of Cajun old-timers in Golden Meadow, Louisiana
By Anonymous | September 3, 2010As a fluent french speaker I was curious to hear Cajun French and was told, back when we were in Cut Off, Louisiana that the best place in to hear this endangered patois was under the famous oak tree in Golden Meadow where the elders gather every week.
There, retired fishermen and oil rig-workers sit together and discuss the news of the world in the shade on their rocking chairs. When I asked the old-timers about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill the answer I got in mixed English and French was "only the man up there knows what is going to happen now."
