Ali Sanderson
Ali Sanderson has for more than a decade worked in video, photography, performance and installation in art galleries and institutions in Australia, Europe and Asia. A graduate of the Victorian Colleague of the Arts, Ali is a contemporary artist whose work for over a decade has been an investigation of the borders of high art and popular culture.
As an inveterate traveler, Ali uses her art practice as a vessel and a means to communicate and connect with people, engaging with local artisans, personalities and social stereotypes, creating new environments and experiences in order to find new perspectives on common contemporary and social issues.
Traveling to Cambodia in 2006, her training and practice as a contemporary artist found expression through arts consultancies, working with marginalized communities, including HIV AIDS sufferers and people with disabilities. She has produced documentary and short videos for agencies working in development including World Vision, WeltHungerHilfe, Save the Children, Hagar, KHANA and the International Labor Organization.
Ali has become a major arts contributor and mentor in the region, exhibiting, writing, lecturing, guiding the development of individual artist's, and curating a season of cutting edge contemporary art and photography shows.
Ali's work has appeared in various publications including Photofile, FREIZE, Asialife, Flashart, Mulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art and Australian Art Collector.
